Arctic Cat Expands Dealer ATV Orders
Now dealers can order Artic Cat ATV units three times throughout the year, as opposed to once. According to Arctic Cat officials, dealers can now order in June, August, and January, instead of at a company dealer network show in the summer. Arctic Cat is planning to introduce part of its 2010 ATV line in August, and dealers can order during the second round of ordering this month. According to Artic Cat’s most recent earnings report at the end of July, ATV sales totaled $32.2 million in the first quarter versus $53.8 milion in the same period last year, as Arctic Cat rescaled its business to align inventory levels with lower demand.
Arctic Cat chairman and CEO Christopher Twomey commented, “With the current retail ATV sales slump driven by the recession, we are working harder than ever to offer consumers the innovative products they want, in the ATV segments that currently show some signs of improvements.” These include special-purpose recreational vehicles, such as Arctic Cat’s side-by-side Prowler utility models; the two-rider TRV; as well as vehicles with large-displacement englines exemplified by Arctic Cat’s Thundercat 1000, which remains the industry’s most powerful engine.
